The Lewis and Clark Expedition has been described as "the greatest camping trip of all time," a voyage of high adventure. The compass is one of several mechanical instruments Meriwether Lewis gathered to take with him before the journey West. The compass in this package was reproduced from one of the surviving expedition compasses.
